Organisers of last weekend’s Cornwall Food & Drink Festival are hailing the event as “a huge success”.
More than 40,000 people are said to have visited the festival marquee on Truro’s Lemon Quay and early indications are that the ninth Cornwall Food & Drink Festival was the best ever for visitor numbers and commercial traders.
Cornwall Food & Drink director, Ruth Huxley, said: “We know this is a popular event, but this year it has been more popular than ever, with a constant stream of people arriving even before we opened each morning until the doors closed each evening.
“On Saturday alone we estimate 20,000 people attended, at one point arriving at a rate of over 3,000 an hour.”
Exhibitors were also happy with as much as £250k of business estimated to have taken place.
