Truro-based Laurence Associates joined exhibitors and delegates at the national Eco-Build conference in London recently to further its credibility in providing environmentally responsible and ecologically beneficial development solutions.

The conference, which took place over three days at the Earls Court, provided information on the latest eco-building technologies and natural options, ranging from the most efficient domestic wind turbines to providing insulation using recycled paper or sheep’s wool.

Laurence Associates provided examples of how it utilises its in-house landscape architectural and sustainability assessment team to provide innovative planning solutions to resist the impact of climate change.

The company, which was recently named Small Planning Consultancy of the Year, was represented by directors Paul Bateman and Jason Pledger.

Pledger explained: “For us to remain credible in our claim that we can break new ground with innovative planning and design proposals, we must stay at the forefront of using the best and most up to date technological advances, as well as fully understanding the natural substitutes for traditional carbon intensive materials.

“The Eco-Build conference allowed us to review our design considerations and develop our common sustainability language with material providers.”

Laurence Associates is currently awaiting the determination of applications for planning permission on two proposals for carbon neutral developments in Cornwall and Devon.
