Porthpean Outdoor Education Centre (OEC) has reopened for business.

Operating since the 1940s, the centre has become something of an institution in Cornwall, providing thousands of local children with outdoor education and school residentials over the years.

Last year, Cornwall Adventure Ltd took the keys to the facility after Cornwall Council decided to put it out to tender.

And among the changes, while Porthpean OEC will still be offered to visiting schools, it will now also be available for families and groups.

General manager, Mark Turner, said: “As well as offering amazing school residentials, for the first time ever we will be welcoming families and groups to Porthpean OEC for activity days at the weekends or adventure breaks in the school holidays.”

Located overlooking St Austell Bay, Porthpean OEC is a residential activity centre with its own beach, spacious and comfortable glamping-style accommodation, full catering provision, and on-site activities.
