The Aspire Academy Trust has wrapped up the school year with a change in leadership.

After five years at the helm, Jacky Swain has stepped down from her role as chair of the board to become trustee and hands the baton to Penny Shilston.

Swain, who is also the Commercial Estates Group’s (CEG) site manager for the Carlyon Beach development, said: “I have enjoyed five full and rewarding years at The Aspire Academy Trust.

“Highlights have been the opportunity to attend design meetings for the new school at Nansledan as part of the Duchy development at Quintrell Downs, meeting with Ofsted at various schools and working with the amazing teaching staff.

“Most importantly, it has been a privilege to support the children and I am proud to be passing the reins to Penny who I will continue to support as trustee.”

Aspire CEO, Vanessa Bragg, added: “Jacky has made a significant contribution as chair over a period of considerable growth and transformation for Aspire and is always ambitious for the education of children. We have been so fortunate to have been led and supported by Jacky who has such great passion, intellect and drive.”

Aspire is a multi-academy trust comprising a group of 29 primary academies across Cornwall, from St Uny C of E Academy in Carbis Bay to Bude Primary Academy.
