Work on a new affordable housing scheme in Lostwithiel is set to start this week following a £1.3M investment from the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA).

The investment from the Get Britain Building programme will support the development of 32 new homes in Castle Hill Road, by local family-owned firm, Wycliffe Estates.

HCA executive director for the south and south west, Colin Molton, said: “It is great news that work can continue at this project, which is delivering much needed high quality new homes for Cornwall.

“There’s no doubt that this development will make a positive difference to the local community and I am sure today’s news will be welcomed by local people.

“It’s good to see that the Get Britain Building programme is delivering new homes and safeguarding jobs in our area by supporting projects such as this.”

Christopher Taylour, director of Wycliffe Estates, added: “We’ve not been surprised by the level of interest there has been in these homes. As a local company, we know how tough the housing market here has been for people who want to own their own home. We can low look forward to getting on with the job and seeing these homes complete and ready for people to move in.”

The homes in Lostwithiel are due to be completed in 2014.
