One of Cornwall’s oldest firm of solicitors is hoping to give the property market in St Austell and Newquay area a boost by offering fixed price fees.

Coodes Solicitors, which has seven offices in Cornwall and Devon including St Austell and Newquay, is running the offer until the end of December.

The reduced fees are available to first time buyers, as well as those buying and selling.

The move comes after it was reported the growth in the housing market in September was the smallest rise since December 2009.

Alistair Whyte, head of Coodes residential property department, said: “We’re very aware that the property market needs a bit of a helping hand to keep things moving.

“There have been significant falls in mortgage applications and approvals over the last couple of months, including a 10% drop in August and a further 2% in September.

“Coupled with cuts in public sector which are going to have an impact in Cornwall, people will be thinking carefully about their pennies.

“We believe we can help them by offering fixed price conveyancing support, which allows them to manage their finances and help them move home quickly and efficiently.”
