Jumping for joy at the opening of St Mary's Catholic Primary School extension

Pupils, parents and teachers are celebrating the completion of a £300k extension project at St Mary’s Catholic Primary School in Falmouth.

Penzance-based RLT Architects led the build which began last November.

Chair of governors, Matt Higham, said: “We are absolutely delighted, it’s a fantastic building. It’s provided more rooms to provide specialist lessons for the children, for example music lessons, as before they were either in the staff room or the headteacher’s office.”

The project will allow the school to meet future needs, provide new teaching and administration space as well as new staff facilities.

When redesigning the school RTL Architects worked closely with St Mary’s to reduce its environmental impact. The thermal performance of the building has now been improved to reduce the school’s carbon dioxide emissions.

The work was carried out by local contractor, Scrace & Co.
