A local pub and restaurant in Saint Breward has successfully responded to the coronavirus crisis by delivering food to the local community after securing a five-figure finance package from HSBC UK.
The Old Inn and Restaurant, known for being the highest pub in Cornwall, has used the funding to improve cash flow and start a contact-free collection and delivery service, safeguarding the future of the business during the outbreak and supporting vulnerable people in the community. Since the takeaway service started nine weeks ago, the restaurant is making on average 50 meals a night.
Director and co-owner, Darren Wills, said: “These are unprecedented times for any industry, but hospitality has been especially affected. We love bringing the community together, so it’s been particularly hard not seeing friendly faces across the bar or enjoying our food in the restaurant, but we’re glad we found a way to bring our food to the community instead.
“We’ve been overwhelmed by the support from our community and we couldn’t have done it without the help of our relationship manager, Karl Carter, who’s been instrumental in helping us adapt in the face of uncertainty.”
