An iconic Cornish pub has gone on the market with an asking price of £2 million.

The Jamaica Inn, near Bodmin, which was immortalised in a novel by Daphne du Maurier, has been put up for sale by John and Wendy Watts, who have owned it for the past 40 years, and are now looking to retire.

Matthew Smith, director of Christie and Co in Exeter, which is marketing the property, said: “Given the history, the location and the trading records, we anticipate a great deal of interest.”
