Trewithen Dairy, Fitzgerald Lighting Cornwall, Mitchell & Webber and Redruth-based Conway Bailey Transport all feature in the London Stock Exchange (LSE) report which identifies the “top 1000 fast-growing and dynamic small and medium enterprises across the UK”.

South west accountancy firm Francis Clark, which has an office in Truro, is also included in the list.

Companies were measured on revenue growth and job creation, as well as growth in office space and performance against sector peers.

The report identified 72 south west companies in the Top 1000 and the region also topped the LSE’s Average Revenue Growth by region table.

Commenting on the report, Xavier Rolet, CEO, London Stock Exchange Group, said: “The term SME describes a very broad church of businesses, from the high-street greengrocer to the high-tech manufacturer and exporter.

“Within this group of more than 4.5 million UK companies there is an exciting subset of fast-growing, dynamic businesses. These ‘gazelle’ companies, as the CBI calls them, or the ‘vital six per cent’, as think-tank Nesta describes them, are of exceptional importance to UK economic growth and job creation.”
