A mortgage adviser from a Truro and Wadebridge-based independent financial advisers will be making his television debut tonight (Monday, November 26) on BBC One.
Ronan Marrion, who works for Worldwide Financial Planning, will be speaking on the channel’s Inside Out programme at 7.30pm.
He will be speaking on the issues facing older people in Cornwall and Devon in getting mortgages.
Marrion said: “We were asked to provide our insight into the issues of older people in the region getting mortgages.
“It’s a hot topic at the moment, especially with the Financial Services Authority’s Mortgage Market Review (MMR), which will come into effect in April 2014.
“The MMR will impact older borrowers and, for example, if you’re 71 years old and have a pension income of £50,000 the new rules mean you will not be able to take out a mortgage past your 75th birthday.
“When you look at the age breakdown of the people in the South West then this has potential to have a huge impact on older borrowers in the area.”
