Visit Cornwall has teamed up with Truro City Council and Great Western Railway (GWR) to launch a festive campaign aimed at attracting residents from Devon to Cornwall for day trips and short breaks throughout the Christmas period.

The campaign features a mix of traditional and digital advertising placements. This includes digital billboards in high-footfall areas in Exeter, bus advertisements in Plymouth, and poster placements throughout the south west GWR network.

In addition, a targeted Meta campaign is in place, designed to reach key audiences across Devon. Cornwall will also receive national exposure this month through its inclusion in the MailOnline’s ‘Christmas Top 10’ travel feature.

The artwork for the campaign was produced in partnership with Truro City Council. Created by local graphic designer, Jan Thompson, the artwork features a festive scene of Truro’s Christmas Market.

Commenting on the partnership, David Rodda MBE, Town Clerk of Truro City Council, said: “The opportunity to work with Visit Cornwall on this campaign is a great example of partnership as it helps to deliver the shared objective of encouraging visitors to Cornwall throughout the year. By using our iconic skyline as the backdrop for the campaign we are putting our Great Little City at the heart of the work to promote Cornwall as a place to visit over the festive period.”

The central call to action of the Christmas campaign encourages visitors to explore the Visit Cornwall website, which will feature a comprehensive guide to Christmas events across Cornwall in November and December. The website offers details on festive markets, light displays, concerts, and other seasonal activities, providing residents and visitors alike with ample reasons to visit Cornwall during the holidays.

Visit Cornwall MD, Michael Steel, said:  “As a membership organisation, we are delighted to support our members by giving additional visibility to their events during this festive season. After what has been a challenging year for many, this campaign provides much-needed exposure and encourages visitors to experience all of the fantastic events taking place in Cornwall this Christmas.”
