Cornwall’s top tourist attractions are taking the next steps towards recovery this week as many remaining restrictions are lifted – but are calling on the public to take sensible precautions and be considerate of staff and other visitors as they enjoy their day out.
Despite the freedom given to businesses to remove measures put in place during the height of the coronavirus pandemic, the majority of Cornish attractions will be keeping some measures in place to ensure the safety of staff and visitors.
Advance booking to manage visitor flow, reduced visitor numbers on site and heightened cleanliness measures look set to remain for most attractions. Mask wearing in indoor areas and busy outdoor areas will be strongly recommended, and PPE measures for staff will remain in many organisations.
Jon Cummins, chair of the board of directors at Cornwall Association of Tourist Attractions, said: “With the arrival of Freedom Day, we’re delighted that all of our attractions are now able to reopen fully and welcome visitors safely. However, we know that Cornwall is going to be incredibly busy this summer and we urge all visitors to be mindful of the safety and wellbeing of others around them.
“Cornwall is experiencing a staffing crisis in tourism and hospitality as well as one of our busiest summers, meaning that many attractions are operating with less staff than normal. We can’t wait to welcome our visitors back this summer, and we will be working hard to make sure you have a great – and safe – day out, but we need everyone to play their part in acting responsibly and with consideration.”
