Padstow-based Cornish Horizons Holiday Cottages has reported a sharp rise in bookings.

The company, which has more than 450 properties across Cornwall, says that bookings taken in February were 25% up compared with the same period last year.

It says Easter, May half term and school summer holiday bookings have increased significantly, while early summer reservations have also grown.

Cornish Horizons manager, Gemma Brown, said: “January and February are typically strong months for bookings, as families decide where they will holiday.

“However, this year has seen an exceptional uplift in early booking, leading us to suspect that customers are looking to the UK as a viable holiday option for the main summer months.”
