This year’s Polo on the Beach event at Watergate Bay has been cancelled, organisers have confirmed.

The event, which has been held annually for the past nine years and was scheduled to take place from September 9-11, will instead be held every two years on a permanent basis.

This, say the organisers, will allow them time to deliver “a truly spectacular” event in 2017.

“What started out as a fun evening event has now developed into a three-day weekend of free family entertainment,” explained Will Ashworth, MD of Watergate Bay Hotel.

“Because of the huge logistical operation that is required to pull off such an incredible event, and with the hotel continuing to go from strength to strength with more exciting plans in the pipeline, we have decided to stage Polo on the Beach every two years from 2017.”

“It would not be possible to run Polo, as a free to attend, not-for-profit event without the crucial support of our partners and we want to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has worked with us over the last nine years, whilst also asking anyone who is interested in working with us on this special event for 2017 and beyond to please get in touch.”

Polo on the Beach 2017 will take place at Watergate Bay over the weekend of May 19-21.
