Since their inception in 1986, The Caterer’s Acorn Awards, also known as the 30 under 30, have sought to recognise the brightest prospects in the hospitality industry.

27-year-old Laura Cameron oversees all three Nettleton hotels, including the Fistral Beach Hotel and the Esplanade, in Newquay.

And since joining as a receptionist at the Esplanade in 2010, she has made rapid advancement, being promoted to general manager in 2013, quickly followed by her present position as group operations manager.

In her first year as operations manager, Cameron pushed turnover up by 11% with a further 15% projected.

During her tenure, she has also improved staff retention by 15% by introducing various training and incentive schemes.

Director, Diane Nettleton, said: “We are extremely proud of Laura and all that she has achieved. These awards recognise the flair and passion of 30 rising stars in hospitality and I can’t think of anyone who deserves to win one more.”
