The Godolphin Arms, at Marazion, has undergone a transformation project managed by The Architects Design Group (ADG).
St Aubyn Estates, which owns the historic Grade II listed inn, has invested more than £1.4 million to give it a new lease of life, appointing Plymouth-based ADG to project manage the contract from planning through to completion.
The centrepiece of the renovation is a modern glass extension that shows off the inn’s beachside location and opens up panoramic views across the whole of Mounts Bay.
Substantial structural changes have been made to the original building in order to generate an open plan environment connecting the split-level restaurant and bars over several floors.
ADG project architect Patrick Deigan, said: “Something very special has been created at The Godolphin Arms and we are both proud and excited to have been involved in the project from its inception.”
Lord St Levan, of St Aubyn Estates, added: “It has been a great pleasure to work with such a talented and dedicated team, both in the detailed planning of the project and to deliver it within a tight timetable for the construction work itself.
“As well as greatly improving the facilities and ambience for guests, I feel that this development has enhanced the architectural merit of the building with stylish contemporary flourishes.”
