Businesses are increasingly turning to international markets to fuel growth, if the latest sales figures from a Newquay-based translation agency are anything to go by.

Anja Jones Translation was established four years ago after spotting a gap in the market for local hotels requiring translation services.

Now the company handles accounts across the world and this year reported that turnover doubled to just under £500k.

According to Anja Jones, Cornish businesses need to “empower their brand” to sell themselves strongly in international markets. “Having a finely honed, translated website is key,” she said.

She also paid tribute her company has received from business support service, Get Set For Growth. “They helped me look at specific business challenges I was facing,” she said.

“They’ve helped me formulate a plan of action. It was a perfect fit as the business finance and marketing advice was exactly what I needed help with. They were the main two challenges we faced as a small company.”
