Fifty staff at the newly-named Legacy Hotel Victoria will be retained at the 71-bedroom hotel which has a further 34 bedrooms in a lodge.

Current owners the Taylor family, who have owned the venue for the last 40 years, will continue to operate the on-site Mexican restaurant, an Irish bar and a 2,100 capacity nightclub – the biggest in Cornwall.

Jim Gordon, managing director of Legacy Hotels and Resorts, said the group was looking forward to establishing its presence in Cornwall.

He said: “We have great experience in running three and four star hotels across the UK and we are pleased to have signed a full management contract for the next three years to build on the hotel’s success.

“Our management expertise will boost its sales and marketing presence throughout Newquay and Cornwall because it is an excellent venue for leisure breaks, conferences and weddings.”

Richard Taylor said Legacy Hotels and Resorts has a fantastic track-record in the industry of driving hotels forward.

“We were keen to appoint an established hotel management company to take over the day-to-day running of the Victoria while I concentrate on the bar, club and restaurant operation,” he said.

“The restaurant, bar and nightclub remain popular with our visitors and the local community and we want to keep these businesses moving forward.”
