St Bernards Guesthouse teamed up with Cornwall Business Photos to set up the ‘walk around’, using Google’s Streetview technology.

The guesthouse’s owner, John Fallon, explained: “With the upsurge in online bookings, the use of smart phones and social media, the idea that anyone can now walk through our front door from their own living room and take a look around is fantastic.

“It allows our clients to make a much more informed decision of where they should book for their holiday.”

According to Google, in 2012 local searches made up at least 40% of all computer-based searches and more than 40% of mobile searches.

Independent Research (DoubleClick, 2011) also suggests that virtual tours generate 46% more sales or bookings than still images.
