easyJet’s inaugural flight arrived in Newquay at 8.20am from London Southend – carrying the first of 20,000 visitors expected to travel to the region with easyJet this summer. easyJet will also introduce summer flights to and from Liverpool Airport on July 4.

easyJet commercial manager, Ali Gayward, said: “It is great to add a new UK destination to our network and we hope Newquay will prove extremely popular with holidaymakers from London Southend and Liverpool this summer.

“The new flights will also open up a range of holiday destinations for people in Cornwall as both Liverpool and London Southend serve a wide range of European resorts and cities.”

The airport’s MD, Al Titterington, added: “Today’s inaugural flight from London Southend with easyJet is an exciting time for Newquay Cornwall Airport. For us to be operating flights with the UK largest airline is a positive step and we are confident there will be strong demand for this service from travellers to Cornwall.”

  1. Whilst delighted as a regular user of the current Gatwick that Easyjet has stepped into the breach, I do very much hope that once the route is established Cornwall can get a proper London link to either London City or Gatwick. A lot of trips to London are connecting trips to other destinations, or for the West End and Southend will not in the long run cut the mustard for either I am afraid.
