Camper company slips into gear

A new business has been launched in Cornwall offering camper van hire with a difference.

Ben Ford and Jess Ratty cut the cake at the company’s launch

The Cornwall Camper Company was officially opened on Saturday, by Lady Mary Holborow at a launch event in the Eden Project Café in St Austell.

The brainchild of Ben Ford and Jess Ratty, The Cornwall Camper Company offers exclusive packages around the hire of the vans which vary from adventure weeks to wine and ale tours.

The packages also include food hampers filled with local produce.

The vans themselves have been extensively rebuilt with a strong emphasis on renovation using recycled parts from other VWs where possible to uphold the environmental and sustainable aims of the company.

Jess Ratty, co-owner of The Cornwall Camper Company, said: “This is such an exciting time for us, we have worked tirelessly for two years to renovate our first two vans Lilly and Jessie and we are looking forward to our first full year of VW Camper hire in Cornwall.

“It was a tough decision to start a business in the middle of a recession but with Cornish spirit, determination and the support of some incredible people across Cornwall, we are finally raring to go.”
