Europe’s best family hotel is in Cornwall, according to the world’s largest travel site.
TripAdvisor today revealed the winners of its 2012 Travellers’ Choice Hotels for Families, honouring the best family-friendly hotels in 25 markets around the globe, including Europe and Britain.
The Sands Resort Hotel & Spa in Newquay was judged to be best in Europe, beating off competition from hotels across the Mediterranean. The only other British property to make the European list was also Cornish – the Bedruthan Steps in Mawgan Porth, in 12th place.
The Sands Resort and Bedruthan Steps were additionally named winner and runner-up in the British list, followed by Blackpool’s Doric Hotel in third place.
Emma Shaw, TripAdvisor spokesperson, commented: “With so many highly-rated family-friendly hotels in Britain, including Europe’s number one, it’s clear that British families need not always look abroad for a truly great holiday.”
Malcolm Bell, Head of Tourism, VisitCornwall, added: “The awards are a magnificent accolade for the hotels and they should be immensely proud of themselves.”
Award winners were determined based on the most highly rated hotels by those who travelled with family.
