The marketing team behind Cornwall’s most popular visitor destination are gearing up for a busy 2012 with the appointment of two new members of staff.

Claire Wood and Tommy Tonkins

Tommy Tonkins and Claire Wood have joined Fal River Cornwall to help grow the destination marketing partnership that promotes the river as one of Cornwall’s ‘must see’ destinations.

Enjoyed by over two million people a year and set in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty the team will promote the Cornish river as a destination that offers something for everyone.

Fal River Cornwall marketing manager, Toby Budd, said: “We’re really excited about Claire and Tommy joining the team to help us promote this amazing area.

“From castles, attractions, beaches and watersports to walking trails, cycling and riverside gardens, the river offers plenty for visitors to see and do.”

For those who want to stay longer the team will also be promoting accommodation providers in the area, which Budd describes as “boasting the highest density of award winning accommodation providers in Cornwall.”

Tonkins joins as digital communications manager, having previously worked on national and international campaigns for Helston-based charity, ShelterBox.

And with five years experience in the hospitality industry, Wood has become Fal River’s new sales manager.
