A local social enterprise has started renovation work on a Newquay skatepark.

The Wooden Waves skatepark is remaining partially open while a team from XtraVert re-skins the ramps and paints the entire park.

This project has been given a £5k budget by Newquay Town Council. Further investment from skate brand DC will follow shortly.

The park will be fully open again from Sunday (July 24), to coincide with the start of the school holidays.

Andy Cathery, team manager at XtraVert, said: “Members of the XtraVert team have been working voluntarily on the park for a while now and we’re so excited to be given the opportunity to put our long-term ideas into practice.”
