Hotel group in administration

The Fowey Hall Hotel could soon be under new ownership after its parent company went into administration.

von Essen Hotels Ltd went into administration after failing to pay interest on its £250 million debts. The holding company owns 28 luxury hotels across the UK, including Fowey Hall.

A number of interested suitors are said to have already expressed an interest, including London & Regional, which owns the Park Lane Hilton in London, and Akkeron Hotels.

Options on the table will include selling the company as a whole, which would probably be the preferred option of the administrator, or breaking up the portfolio, which also includes the Royal Crescent in Bath, and selling individually.

In the meantime, all the hotels are open for business as usual.
