Falmouth Chamber of Commerce has announced details of a collaboration with Plymouth University’s School of Tourism and Hospitality on a new community project.

As part of the project, some 30 tourism students will visit Falmouth in October to look at a range of issues which currently affect the area, such as signage, accommodation and the links to the town and its outlying areas.

They will meet members of the chamber, members of The Falmouth and District Hotels Association and other influential groups within the area, to discuss their perceptions of the town and how they envisage the future.

The students will then each design a website to promote Falmouth to the domestic or a specific international tourism market.

The students will also collate their findings which will result in a formal marketing plan for Falmouth which will be made available to the chamber’s committee for deliberation.

A prize of £100 will be presented to the student who shows the most potential.
