Falmouth’s Business Improvement District (BID) has appointed Richard Wilcox as its new project manager.

Wilcox comes with a wealth of experience, having previously served as business development manager at VisitCornwall where he led tourism marketing and business development for Newquay, which included the launch of the award-winning VisitNewquay website.

Prior to that, Wilcox was tourism champion for the Isles of Scilly, with responsibility for overseeing the strategic planning, marketing and tourism initiatives for the Islands.

Chair of the Falmouth BID board, Nigel Carpenter, said: “With Richard’s wealth of experience in destination marketing and the tourism industry, he is ideally placed to deliver the manifesto for Falmouth that was voted in by local businesses last spring.

“Our talented and experienced board of volunteer directors has been hard at work behind-the-scenes to ensure that the infrastructure is in place to support the physical manifestation of the Falmouth BID projects. These include the launch of a new brand identity for the town, an array of physical improvements, a new website and the enhanced promotion of existing festivals and events, and we look forward to working with Richard and other partners in the town to raise Falmouth’s profile amongst local people and visitors alike.”
