Newquay Cornwall Airport has welcomed the Airports Commission’s decision to support a new runway at London Heathrow.
Newquay Airport MD, Al Titterington, said the airport looked forward to working with Heathrow to ensure regional connectivity to the new runway is safeguarded and would continue to work with stakeholders to ensure that Cornwall is represented at the heart of this process.
The Airports Commission’s recommendation is now with the Government, with Prime Minister David Cameron promising a final decision by the end of the year.
And Titterington urged a swift resolution. He said: “It is now imperative that the Government endorses this recommendation and pushes forward the delivery of a new runway at Heathrow as soon as possible.
“The debate on new runway capacity has been going on for too long. We now have a clear direction that will benefit British businesses and allow the country’s economy to grow.”
