Cornish Food Box is in the running to be named one of the leading rural retail businesses in the UK after being shortlisted for a prestigious regional award.

The Cornish Food Box Company will battle it out against fellow rural businesses from across the south west (Cornwall – Wiltshire & Gloucestershire) for a place in the national finals in the Rural Business Awards 2021.

Established in 2010, Cornish Food Box is a leading online retailer of Cornish food, drinks, hampers and gifts employing 12 people from its Redruth warehouse.

Founder and MD, Victoria Amran, said: “After a crazy year it means so much to be shortlisted for this award not just for myself but for the whole team here at Cornish Food Box. We have worked relentlessly throughout the pandemic ensuring our customers had easy access to local food, and our suppliers had a market to sell their produce which was particularly important with the shutdown of many hospitality businesses.

“To be recognised for our efforts means a huge amount to us all, and to have the chance to bring home such a prestigious award to Cornwall would really be the icing on the cake.”

Other Cornish businesses shortlisted include Water Powered Technologies (Best Rural Innovation), Cornhill Farm (Best Rural Food or Drink Business), BF Adventure (Best Rural Recreational) and Swallowcourt (Best Rural Social Enterprise, Charity or Community Project).

The Rural Business Awards is hosting a series of regional finals in the North, East, Midlands, South West, Wales and Northern Ireland, throughout October, ahead of the National Final next February.
