Newquay Activity Centre has officially opened the doors to a new home, in Newquay’s town centre.

Town Councillor, Louis Gardner, cut the ribbon on the new Fore Street premises along with RAF Wing Commanders Jolyon Goodwin and Marshall Kinnear.

Newquay Activity Centre has a strong partnership with the military, which undertakes adventure training throughout the year. Wing Commander Goodwin commented: “Newquay Activity Centre has provided the RAF’s Robson Resilience Centre, located at RAF St Mawgan, with fantastic support in recent years offering programmes that will help develop leadership, interpersonal skills and resilience.

“It’s great to see the centre going from strength to strength and we look forward to a continuing relationship.”

Previously home to cottage tearooms more recently a beach goods and sunglasses shop, the centre’s new space has been completely modernised to accommodate state of the art changing rooms, hot showers, bookings office, training room and customer booking areas.

Director Rob Barber said: “We’ve been looking for permanent premises for Newquay Activity Centre for some years. It was a very busy summer and despite the challenges of the global pandemic, we managed to push this sale through in early autumn and immediately started with the internal build and outside branding.

“We can’t wait to welcome guests and friends in over the festive period and beyond.”

As well as being home to Newquay Activity Centre, the premises will also provide office space for the company’s sister businesses, Bodyboard-Holidays and Women + Waves.
