A new online platform has been launched to encourage people to buy local.
Buy Cornwall brings Cornish producers, makers and creators together online to create an easy place for the public to buy local products.
The man behind the initiative, Peter Watson, says it has never been more important to support the local economy.
He says for every £1 spent with a local, independent business, between 50p-70p circulates back into that local economy, whereas shopping with online or large out of town retailers only generates around 5p back into the local community.
“Local businesses need to thrive if communities wish for the revival of the high street and local economic development, but we need to support them now when things are tough and many with their backs against the wall with nowhere to turn.”
And to help support these businesses, advertising on Buy Local is free of charge until December 2021.
