Falmouth BID manager, Richard Wilcox (r), welcomes new chairman, Richard Thomas

RTP Surveyors director, Richard Thomas, has been named the new chairman of the Falmouth Business Improvement District (BID).

Thomas has been a director of the BID board for the past six years and has contributed significantly to the BID’s success since its inception in 2009.

The Falmouth BID’s board of directors comprises local business owners who voluntarily give up their time and expertise to support BID manager, Richard Wilcox, in the delivery of projects as outlined in the BID’s business plan.

Thomas replaces John Hick who has taken the decision to retire after three years in the role. Under Hick’s tenure, the BID was voted in for a second five-year term by 87% of eligible businesses.

Hick said: “I have thoroughly enjoyed working with the Falmouth BID team over the years and I look back with immense satisfaction and pride on all that we have achieved.”

There are eight BIDs currently operating in towns and commercial areas across Cornwall that support over 3,000 businesses.

Nationally, there are over 200 BIDs which represent over 75,000 businesses and invest over £200 million into projects that seek to invigorate town and city centres, business parks and industrial areas.
