Subway has opened in the heart of Camborne town centre and is already so popular the franchise owners are planning to extend opening hours.

On top of providing an additional source of take-away snacks for shoppers and visitors, the business has created eight new jobs. The positions have all been filled by people who live locally, mainly housewives and college students. Some have previous experience, but for several it’s their first job.

Yam and Jimmy Cai, who already have two restaurants in Penzance are the new owners of Camborne’s Subway.

Yam Cai said: “Camborne was our first choice as a location to open the shop because the town centre is so busy. Our shop is directly opposite the town square so we’re literally at the very heart and of course that’s where the weekly market is held, an event that draws lots of customers.”

“Having Subway in Camborne’s high street is a great asset,” added BID Camborne Manager Mel Martin. “It adds to the diversity of food on offer and is guaranteed to improve footfall and visitor satisfaction.”
