Free parking will be on offer in Camborne on Saturdays during the run up to Christmas.

BID Camborne, the town’s business improvement district, has negotiated with Cornwall Council to offer free parking at The Rosewarne car park on Saturdays on the run up to Christmas.

The deal, which starts on Saturday November 23, has been struck to encourage more shoppers into the town for Christmas shopping.

BID Camborne manager, Mel Martin, said: “Parking costs definitely influence where people shop and initiatives like this are valued by both Camborne’s customers and businesses.

“We trialled a scheme in the autumn of last year, and that benefited around 10,000 shoppers.

“It’s really exciting to run another offer during the most important time of the year for retailers and shoppers alike.”

The offer will be available on Saturdays between November and December 21 inclusive at both the Rosewarne Short Stay and Long Stay Extension car parks, both of which are owned and managed by Cornwall Council.

George Le Hunte, chairman of BID Camborne, said: “There are other Christmas parking deals on offer in Cornwall but this is a real win for Camborne, its traders and its customers.

“We’re busy working on a colourful events and entertainment programme for the town, which will make Camborne a fantastic place to do your Christmas shopping.”

“Thanks must go to our partners at Cornwall Council for supporting us in launching this offer.”

BID Camborne recently announced that it had invested £30k in improving infrastructure for Christmas lights throughout the town to help make the festive season as special as possible.
