A Cornish entrepreneur has realised his ambition of opening a new furniture shop, in Truro.
Three Rivers Furniture in Kenwyn Street is a result of a £1M investment form proprietor, Matthew Hurst, and promises good quality furniture from British manufacturers.
Hurst said: “I have worked in the furniture industry in Cornwall for 30 years now.
“Starting this business for myself has enabled me to bring everything I have learned over the years together.”
In an age where out of town retail parks and the internet are putting pressure on town centres, Hurst says the demand is still there for in town retail.
“I wouldn’t have invested my money in this venture if it wasn’t going to work,” he added.
“We know that furniture is one area where the online stores can’t compete with a physical shop for customer experience.
“People want to see the product, touch it and to sit on it to feel how robust it is.”
Neil Scott, BID Manager for Totally Truro, the Business Improvement District, added: “We are delighted that Three Rivers Furniture has opened for business on Kenwyn Street.
“Matthew has a wealth of experience in the industry and this new venture will further strengthen Truro’s portfolio of destination shops, particularly in this area which already hosts a unique and diverse range of independent local businesses.”
