Hundreds of people have turned out to view Tesco’s proposals to extend the Tesco store on Daniels Lane in St Austell.

The proposals where on view at public exhibitions held at the Tesco store and Polkyth Leisure Centre. Of those people who responded to Tesco’s proposals for the store extension, 95% of them said that they are in favour of Tesco’s plans.

Juliette Bishop, Tesco corporate affairs manager said: “During our public consultation the support for our plans was extremely encouraging, people said that they were looking forward to a greater range of products in store, more car parking and traffic flow improvements along Daniels Lane.”

“Lots of people have taken time to consider our proposal and offered lots of constructive suggestions. All the comments have now been read, and are being used to develop our proposal further before our planning application is submitted.”

The feedback that Tesco received also demonstrated an overwhelming need for more local jobs. Almost 93% of people who responded to the proposals felt that the 180 new Tesco jobs to be created by the store extension would benefit someone they knew.
