Work has begun on a £5.8 million project in Penzance to build dedicated workspace and a hub for creative businesses.
The Penzance Creative Cluster will provide up to 30 modern studios and flexible workspaces at Causewayhead for creative sector businesses, from high tech digital companies to visual and performing artists and forms part of a wider strategy to regenerate and reinvigorate Penzance town centre.
Stephen Rushworth, Cornwall Council’s cabinet portfolio holder for the economy, said: “This dedicated workspace will help encourage collaboration and innovation for businesses in a sector that is fast growing within the Cornish economy.
“It is crucial that we bring businesses and jobs to our town centres if we are to revitalise our high streets, which is why the Penzance Creative Cluster is not only great news for creative businesses, but for the town centre too.”
Mark Jones, operational director at Midas Construction, part of the Midas Group, added: “As a Cornwall-based business, we are delighted to work with Cornwall Council on this exciting regeneration project, kick-start the regeneration of the town and using the construction phase to maximise opportunities for employment through our local supply chain.”
The Penzance Creative Cluster is being funded by Cornwall Council (£2.6 million) and the European Regional Development Fund (£3.2 million).
So they have started the monstrosity that the local people voted against in large numbers, well-done pat yourselves on the back for ruining the historic town we all grew up in.
Steel and glass will never replace Cornish granite a massive carbuncle on the historic causeway head for Arty workshops where one can take one’s bike to work this will help local people enormously NOT!!.
