Businesses, residents and road users in Cornwall are being urged to have their say on the A30 Chiverton to Carland Cross upgrade before consultation ends next week.

Close to 1,000 people attended a number of public information events throughout February, and this is the last chance for people to give their views on proposals to dual the 8.7-mile section of the A30.

Consultation on the proposals for the Highways England scheme continues until March 12 and anyone who would like to comment can still do so by clicking here.

Project manager Josh Hodder said: “We recognise the importance of improving this section of the A30 in Cornwall, and have enjoyed sharing our progressed plans with local stakeholders, businesses and the community over the last month.

“The consultation is still open so it is vital that people use this opportunity to have their say and tell us what they think about our proposals. We were delighted to engage with the 882 people who attended our seven public events, but we really do urge people to give their views.

“Whether people are in support, or have ideas about how we might change or improve the scheme, it’s really important to help inform our decision-making, and we would welcome your feedback.”

The planned upgrade will offer drivers more than 100 miles of dual carriageway between the M5 and Camborne in Cornwall, unlocking economic growth in the region, improving motorists’ journeys, cutting congestion, improving safety and connecting local communities along the route.

The cost of developing the scheme is being partly funded by an £8 million contribution from the European Regional Development Fund, with an additional £12 million for the construction phase. The remainder of the cost of developing and delivering the scheme will be funded by central Government.

Following consultation, the scheme will then progress through the formal planning process later this year. Subject to statutory approval, construction is planned to start in spring 2020.
