Major construction works to repair and renovate Jubilee Pool in Penzance are nearing completion.

The project team has announced that the swimming pool is currently on schedule to reopen to the public in late May, “barring any unforeseen circumstances”.

Welcoming the completion of the latest works, Adam Paynter, Cornwall Council’s cabinet member for partnerships, said: “This has been a fantastic example of partnership working and I would like to thank everyone who has worked so hard to get to this point in the project.

“This ambitious scheme has met a number of challenges along the way but, thanks to the commitment and enthusiasm of all the partners, we are now within a few weeks of completing these works and re opening the pool so it can, once again, be enjoyed by local residents and visitors to Penzance.”

Tempus Leisure, which will operate the pool on behalf of Cornwall Council, has appointed Amelia Kitchen as project co-ordinator.

Martin Nixon, MD of Nixon Design and part of The Friends of Jubilee Pool team, added: “We are delighted that the pool will be in full operation in the near future and we believe it will prove to be a highly popular attraction in Cornwall this summer; proving its worth as a real catalyst for the future economic regeneration in Penzance.”
