Council opts for Battery Rocks

Cornwall Councillors have recommended that the new Isles of Scilly ferry terminal should be sited at Penzance’s Battery Rocks.

The Council voted 14-7 in favour of the revised proposals yesterday, having rejected the original plans shortly before Christmas.

The recommendation will now be sent to the Secretary of State for final approval.

Local action group Friends of Penzance Harbour, which is against the development claiming it will ruin the historic seafront, insisted that the fight was not over, and that the group would now put its case forward to the Minister.
