Cornwall’s largest label manufacturer, KCS Print, is taking its environmental credentials to the next level.

The Launceston-based business has been accredited membership of Prismm Environmental’s ‘Zero 2 landfill’ labels scheme, where it ensures that no label waste ends up in landfill.

KCS claims to be the only company in Cornwall to have this accreditation and MD, Zoe Deadman, says its builds on a longstanding commitment it has to the environment.

“We know that sustainability and environmental concerns are at the forefront of our customers minds when choosing a supplier,” she said. “KCS Print has long had an excellent reputation for being forward thinking in this regard. Our print factory was the first in Cornwall to be powered by solar, we have held ISO14001 accreditation for more than a decade and the ethos of the company is built on the challenge to always do better.

“Since joining this scheme we have already diverted more than seven tonnes of label waste from landfill. This is a fantastic achievement and is a credit to all of the team for ensuring we have complete separation of waste and effective recycling across the factory.”

An estimated 120,000 tonnes of label waste is landfilled in the UK annually. The ZeroLabels2Landill scheme is aiming to reduce this figure to zero.
