A Devoran-based steel reinforcement business is stronger than ever with the introduction of innovative new machinery to its workshop.

Devoran Metals, one of the largest metal works companies in the south west, has invested in automated technology by purchasing a MEP Mini Syntax 16, believed to be the only machine of its kind in the region.

The machine allows the team to cut and bend standard and bespoke steel reinforcement bars for the construction industry in a quick and accurate production process.

With reduced intervention of machine operators the investment has increased productivity within the 14-strong workforce by 30%.

MD, Richard Orsman, said: “The ultimate aim of investing in this new technology is to grow and future-proof our business. We hope to create more jobs in Cornwall and continue to make our mark as a key player in the UK’s steel reinforcement industry.”
