Roche-based water hygiene specialist QES has issued a warning to businesses following a confirmed outbreak of Legionnaires’ Disease in the midlands earlier this month.
QES’ MD Mike Quest said: “Compliance with legislation relating to Legionella control and safe water management is going to be one of this year’s hot topics with the Health and Safety Executive, the Health Protection Agency and local Environmental Health Offices – and a no compromise approach is expected.”
He advises companies to undertake a full risk assessment of their premises with a company registered with the Legionella Control Association. Quest added: “You should do everything that is reasonably practicable or be prepared to defend your actions in court!”
