PRESS RELEASE
Pool based local printers Active Colour have been honoured to receive environmental accreditation by the FSC making them one of the first suppliers of local paper print in Cornwall to adhere to these world-wide environmental criteria.
The FSC accreditation means that the printers can trace back the chain of custody for the paper they are supplying through paper merchants, mills and forest where the wood is grown to ensure that it is from a sustainable source and produced in the most environmentally friendly process, recycling wherever possible.
Although only 9% of the world’s forests fall under the FSC certification schemes, over 90 million hectares in more than 70 countries have been certified according to FSC standards while several thousand products are produced using FSC-certified wood and carrying the FSC trademark.
The distinctive tree tick logo is one of the most recognised brands world-wide and the Forest Stewardship Council gain support from large charities such as WWF and Greenpeace.
Active Colour co-director, Andy Hallam says “Recycled materials from sustainable forests have moved on leaps and bounds within the past few years. We are able to match quality, finish and price of paper print, using recycled papers and vegetable based inks. This keeps our customers happy with quality finishes whilst also being able to demonstrate their commitment to the environment.”
Active Colour supply stationary, brochures and magazines to many of the names well recognised within Cornwall such as Fifteen, The Eden Project, The Hotel and Extreme Academy Watergate Bay and Islander Magazine. They also work with many of the established designers. This distinguished customer base stands as testimonial, not only to their environmental values but also dedication to quality and customer service.
Fifteen Chief Executive Dave Meneer says: “As a business we are very ethically and environmentally minded but paper print is essential to promote and run a restaurant. It is so pleasing to us to be able to demonstrate to our customers with the FSC logo that you can have quality finishes and still be environmentally minded. We are proud to be able to work with people who support the FSC chain of custody.”
