Details of a new fund have been announced today to help accelerate growth across Britain’s Enterprise Zones.
The Government is inviting Enterprise Zones, including the Newquay Aerohub, to apply for £60 million worth of investment to help ‘turn shovel ready sites into job ready sites’ by completing key infrastructure projects.
Communities Secretary, Eric Pickles, said: “Economic growth is this Government’s biggest priority and Enterprise Zones are the engine room of that strategy.
“They are a fantastic way to attract the jobs and business investment that local areas need. This new £60 million fund will turbo charge that engine by turning shovel ready sites into job ready sites.”
Chris Pomfret, chairman of the Cornwall & Isles of Scilly Local Enterprise Partnership, welcomed the announcement and said: “This new fund is intended to bring forward infrastructure projects so that further development can take place more quickly.
“This should help us to build on the success we have had so far and enable more investors to move to the site, sooner and ultimately create more high value jobs for Cornwall. In particular we will be looking at the potential to accelerate the development of the Aerohub Business Park and associated transport links.”
