Schoolcomms, a leading provider of school communication solutions, has opened a new head office in Bude Business Park to house its growing company.

The technology firm has customers and sales consultants all over the country, but has decided to set some roots down near the area its founder, Dave Gove, grew up and where there is good access to skilled resource who understand the importance of excellent customer service.

The company has also hired three new employees from the region. Antoinette Hannah, takes up the position of sales manager, Jonathan Wills has been appointed to the position of sales consultant and Owen Hodge joins the customer support team. They join the 15-strong team as the company looks set to grow the business over the coming months.

“We’re very excited about the new office and see it as a great opportunity for the business,” said David Burgess, senior director at Schoolcomms. “Our founder Dave Gove, now the executive chairman, has always had a soft spot for the area having grown up nearby, but I believe there will be real business advantages about this new location.”

Burgess explained: “We may be one of only a few technology companies in the region, but establishing a base in Bude will allow us to foster key relationships with schools and local authorities in Devon and Cornwall. We already have a number of important customers in the south west, and we hope to develop new ones now that we’re based here.

“Being able to tap into the local workforce is also a big advantage and we hope to expand the team further as the business grows.”

Schoolcomms was established by Gove, a business solutions specialist, in 2005. The company provides electronic messaging systems for schools and colleges, allowing instant communication between teachers, parents and pupils. Information can be sent via email, text or letter, relating to things like newsletters, school emergencies, timetable changes, deadline reminders, or other school activities.
