Cornish law firm Follett Stock is expanding across the border into Devon.

The company has taken 1,600 sq ft at the Woodwater Park development, at Pynes Hill on the outskirts of Exeter, three minutes off junction 30 of the M5.

The office will be able to offer a full range of legal services and will be headed by Rebecca Gurgul, an associate partner in the firm and formerly at Clarke Wilmott solicitors in Taunton.

Managing partner Chris Lingard explained: “Everyone at the firm is very excited about this. Moving into Devon has been on our agenda for some time. A couple of years ago we looked very closely at merging with a well known Exeter firm. I’m very pleased we did not go ahead with that. Opening a brand new office is definitely better for us. It allows us to maintain our very distinctive way of operating.”

It has been a busy few months for the Follett Stock brand. As well as opening the new office it has launched a marketing division FS Media Solutions and also Wills at Home. On top of all this, the firm has also changed to limited liability status (LLP).

Explaining the move, partner Martin Pearse said: “This is another sign of our progression from quirky back street solicitors to highly regarded hard hitting lawyers of repute. The main purpose of changing to limited liability status was to ensure that we continued to attract the highest calibre of solicitors like Rebecca and indeed Slade Delacey who has just joined us from Ford Simey.”
