Cornish law firm Coodes Solicitors has expanded its residential property department following signs of growth in the conveyancing market.

Sophie Jones, aged 36, joins Coodes from Foot Anstey solicitors in Truro, having worked for the firm for 12 years in its previous guises as Hancock Caffin and Hancock and Lawrence.

Sophie, who hails from Australia, said: “I was keen to join Coodes because it’s a respected firm with skilled and professional lawyers but also progressive and firmly committed to Cornwall.

“In particular the residential conveyancing department has shown real strength during this recession and I’m keen to be involved with further growth of the department.”

Born in Canberra and having grown up in Tasmania, Sophie enjoys an active lifestyle in Cornwall including running and mountain biking. She also likes art and painting.

Sophie joins the firm’s residential property team in Truro, headed up by partner Alistair Whyte.

Alistair said: “It’s great to have Sophie join the team. She enjoys working closely with local estate agents and strives to maintain client care.

“The conveyancing market has been particularly challenging during the recession but we are starting to see interest in residential property pick up a little.

“This sign of growth has encouraged us to keep doing what we do best – maintain excellence and work closely with local estate agents, other solicitors and property professionals to keep the market buoyant.”
