New Office Opening & Management Structure

Midas Construction, part of the Midas Group, has recently moved from its long established base in St Austell into new high-spec offices, located in a prominent position near the entrance to the Indian Queens Business Park. Executive Director Murdo Mace commented: “The position immediately adjacent to the A30 gives us superb links to our ever growing business throughout Cornwall”.

Midas recently reported excellent yearly figures for the business that included a 38% increase in profits.  Midas is currently undertaking over £60m worth of business in Cornwall, and has recently made changes to the management structure to support further expected growth and to further raise the Midas profile in Cornwall.

Sam Lockyer and James Brady will be managing the Cornwall Office as General Manager and Building Manager respectively reflecting the business going forward.  Sam is primarily looking at new business and pursuing Midas’s commitment to sustainability and James will be focusing on ensuring that Midas’s high standards of project delivery are continuously improved.

Sam has rejoined Midas from Rok where he was in a Team Leader role; previously he had spent eight years with Midas in Cornwall.

Sam commented: “Construction is now far more diverse than primarily just bricks and concrete, and clients expect much more from contractors to ensure the design, construction and future operations of buildings are sustainable, and minimise the impact on local communities”.

James has been with Midas for five years in which time he has carried out various roles within Midas including key account manager for Tesco and Operational Manager within Cornwall immediately prior to his recent promotion.

James said: “I am very excited about utilising my previous experiences in continuous improvement, partnering and meeting client expectations to enable Midas to strengthen its excellent customer relationships within the Duchy”.

Some of Midas’s current projects in Cornwall are: The construction of a replacement Police Station in Bodmin, The Bradbury Centre, the first MS facility in Cornwall, part of the Merlin Project, Improvements to the Maternity wards of the Royal Cornwall Hospital in Treliske, The refurbishment and restoration of the World Heritage buildings at The Heartlands Project in Pool, Tremough Student Accommodation Penryn and The remodeling of St Mellion Golf Course ready for the English Open in August 2009.

There are a total of 75 employees in Cornwall, and overall Midas has 590 employees throughout the South West, South Wales, the M4 Corridor and the South Coast.
